Alcohol Addiction
The problem with Alcohol Addiction is
that it is so socially acceptable and I even see it still being advertised in
South Australia, but why? That has to be the biggest question in a state that is
so against smoking and seems to be a positive health state, with smoking bans
happening away from bus stops and some streets, no advertisements aloud along
with plain packaging for cigarettes but why has alcohol somehow slipped the
net, why is it so socially acceptable, if you go to a party or BBQ and you
don’t want to drink others will wonder why and even try to pursued you, but if
you say you don’t smoke or take drugs people will not try to persuade you to
smoke or take drugs.
Alcohol Addiction can start
as a 1 glass of wine a day with a meal or evening to relax then it moves up to
more than a bottle a night, and it slowly takes over there life sometimes it’s a
social thing with their friends but also becoming more common is secretly
drinking by their self’s.
The thing about alcohol addiction is that rarely one knows where it starts, for instance a smoker almost
always knows where and when they started smoking and a drug addict remembers
there first hit of a certain drug but when does alcohol addiction become a
problem? Is there a cut point from when its healthy amount to addiction and
destroying your health? In my opinion it’s a fine line which would all depend on
that individual, but the biggest question is why is there not much being done by
banning advertisements of alcohol, why is alcohol so socially acceptable, who
are we listening to for us to believe it should be socially
acceptable?
With alcoholics in my
opinion there often the last to realise if they do that they have a serious
problem it’s only when it’s too late.
I do believe Alcohol is the worst Addiction and has somehow slipped though the net and been let off the hook
and all alcohol advertisements should be banned and be treated like tobacco in
the way of plain packaging and health warnings on the
bottles.
